Indeed - it's funny how many warm fuzzies that I got from that post. I'm still on LJ, but I haven't migrated over many userpics. It's weird to say that the low tech, quiet pace is a welcome relief from FB.

true! though new socmed rly has spoiled me in terms of media embedding... and even wp's editor is much more robust on that end. but i will always love the levels of privacy!

Hooray! That post wasn't the first about LJ on Metafilter - I guess nothing happens before it's time :-)

Nope, I've read those posts on MeFi too, but I hadn't made this back then. I'd had the idea, but I wasn't sure if it was a good idea that would get traction. I think the new year helped push me over the deciding edge and I put on my brave pants and made a MetaTalk post and nobody told me how it was actually a bad idea and a bunch of people joined and I think things are coming along really swimmingly. I think at some point I should also post to the projects section of the site, and then maybe in another month or two I can make another MetaTalk post explicitly trying to gain blogs for metafilter_hub. I think I might also be able to go see what blogs from here are still active and ask permission to add them.

I've had the same userpic for literally over a decade on LJ. Over the years I've added some MS Paint art to them and now I have...six. I never got on the userpic train.

I'm super glad to see/hear that people are nostalgic for LJ and its really great platform. I hope that it inspires more folks to give DW a try.

It hasn't been too active lately, but over the summer I posted a bunch of, uh, interpersonal communication scenarios from one of my classes, once a week. Some of them I had to rewrite because they were so horribly written in the first place. I finally threw out the last of my library school notes while cleaning the basement :-)
